The Sexual Health Project was established in April 2006. The project aims to address the sexual health needs of women, the increasing teenage pregnancy rates, rising incidence of Sexually Transmitted Infections, including HIV. The project also works with a range of women on issues related to multiple sexual orientation including supporting South Asian women in bisexual and lesbian relationships. The project has established a framework for improving the sexual health of women in Newham and neighbouring boroughs by improving reproductive and sexual health services, and by making sexual health services available and accessible to South Asian women.

The project is expanding and will soon provide services to address sexual abuse and exploitation.

Domestic Violence can include sexual violence and abuse. This in turn has adverse effects on a woman’s sexual and reproductive health, including long term physical, emotional and psychological trauma. Sexual abuse and rape often take place within relationships and marriage - many people do not realise that even within a marriage, rape is still rape. No one has the right to force another person into participating in sexual activity against their will.
